On this page we will provide some tips that can help you possibly solve your own problems with networking your copier.

General System Requirements for Konica/Minolta Network Scanning

Generally speaking you will be scanning to either an FTP location or to E-mail. Some devices support scan to hard drive as well.

What you will need at your site:

  1. Your own in house network.
  2. An IP Address for the new device you are adding. This address will need to have the same first three sets of numbers as your FTP server or mail server that you want to scan to OR you may have your scanner automatically assigned an address from your DHCP server. (This will need to be set in your DHCP server device to assign the same address each time the printer/scanner attaches to the network, if you will be printing to a standard IP printing port through Windows.)

IP Address assignment: Example the printer/scanner could be assigned a static address of 10.1.1.183 if the FTP server is assigned 10.1.1.100. Or the printer/scanner may be assigned an address of 10.1.100.50 if the email server is assigned address 10.1.100.250. In some cases a DHCP server will register DNS numbers for your device and you may be able to use an address outside the subnet. However it should be kept in mind that these machines are NOT designed to connect directly to the Internet without going through an in house computer.

3.  An FTP server ON YOUR LOCAL NETWORK or an email server ON  YOUR LOCAL NETWORK.

4. Storage folders on your FTP server OR email accounts that can be reached by your server and that will receive the scanned images.

5. An account assigned to the machine. The printer/scanner will need a login and password just like an email user would need on your network. In many cases you may want to add this user and machine (the printer/scanner) to your domain although this is not usually necessary.

6. Email account: The printer/scanner will need to be able to log in to your email server. You will need to make sure that the ports (usually 25 and 110) are NOT blocked. Emailed scans will show up in recipients email software as having come from the name of this account.

7. FTP accounts: You may want to make several FTP accounts on your FTP server, to automatically scan to various folders. These logins need not be any more complicated than typical FTP logins.
